Description
Unlock the secret to incredibly crispy, juicy smash burgers right in your air fryer with this easy-to-follow recipe. Say goodbye to greasy stovetops and hello to perfectly seared, cheesy perfection in minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef, 80/20 fat content
- 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt, plus more to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly cracked, plus more to taste
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 4 slices American cheese (or cheddar, provolone, Monterey Jack)
- 4 brioche buns or potato buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, special sauce
Instructions
- 1. Prep the Patties: Divide ground beef into four 2-ounce balls. Gently roll them, avoiding overworking the meat. Lightly season each ball with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).
- 2. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. Line the basket with parchment paper or foil, lightly sprayed with cooking oil.
- 3. Smash and Cook: Place one beef ball in the preheated air fryer. Using a sturdy flat spatula, firmly smash it into a thin 1/4-inch patty. Cook for 3-4 minutes until crispy edges form.
- 4. Flip and Finish: Flip the patty. Add a slice of cheese on top. Place bun halves (cut-side up) alongside the burger in the air fryer. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and buns are lightly toasted. Repeat for remaining patties.
- 5. Assemble: Remove burger and buns. Assemble your air fryer smash burger with your desired toppings and sauces. Serve immediately and enjoy!
