Description
Learn how to make vibrant and chewy homemade apple gummies with this easy, step-by-step guide. This recipe ensures a perfect balance of sweet and tart apple flavor, far superior to store-bought versions.
Ingredients
- 1 cup (240ml) unsweetened apple juice, divided
- 3 tablespoons (21g) unflavored powdered gelatin
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon citric acid
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon apple extract
- Optional: Pinch of ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a small heat-safe bowl, pour 1/4 cup of cold apple juice. Evenly sprinkle the gelatin powder over the surface and let it bloom for 5-10 minutes without stirring until it forms a thick paste.
- In a small saucepan, combine the remaining 3/4 cup apple juice and the granulated sugar. Heat over low to medium-low heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not boil.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm apple juice mixture. Whisk continuously until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
- Stir in the citric acid and any optional apple extract or cinnamon. Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness if desired.
- Carefully pour the gummy mixture into your prepared silicone molds or a lightly greased/parchment-lined baking dish. Tap molds gently to release air bubbles.
- Refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or until the gummies are completely set and firm to the touch.
- Once set, unmold the gummies and store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5-7 days, or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
