Description
Craft an incredibly creamy and satisfying dairy free milkshake at home with this simple recipe. It’s thick, rich, and utterly delicious, proving that dairy-free can be just as indulgent.
Ingredients
- 2 medium ripe bananas, peeled and frozen solid
- 1/2 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (oat milk for creamiest, almond or soy also work)
- 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup or pitted Medjool dates (optional, to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Optional additions: 1-2 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tbsp nut butter, handful of spinach, scoop of plant-based protein powder
Instructions
- 1. Freeze Bananas: Ensure your ripe bananas are peeled, broken into pieces, and frozen solid (at least 6 hours, ideally overnight).
- 2. Add Liquids: In a high-speed blender, add your plant-based milk, maple syrup (if using), and vanilla extract (if using).
- 3. Add Solids: Add the frozen banana pieces and any other desired add-ins like cocoa powder, nut butter, or spinach.
- 4. Blend: Start blending on low, then gradually increase to high speed. Use a tamper to push ingredients towards the blades, blending until completely smooth, thick, and creamy, with no chunks. Scrape down sides if necessary.
- 5. Adjust & Serve: If too thick, add more plant-based milk one tablespoon at a time. Taste and adjust sweetness or flavor as desired. Pour into a chilled glass and serve immediately for the best experience.
