Ingredients
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 lb ground chicken (or ground turkey)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for GF)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2–4 tbsp sriracha (to taste)
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1/2 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thicker sauce)
- 2 tbsp water (if using cornstarch)
- Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- 1. Prepare Sauce & Aromatics: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Mince garlic and grate ginger.
- 2. Brown Chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up, until browned and cooked through (5-7 mins). Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 3. Sauté Aromatics: Push chicken to one side. Add garlic and ginger to the empty side and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 4. Add Sauce: Pour prepared sauce over the chicken and aromatics. Stir well to combine, ensuring chicken is evenly coated.
- 5. Simmer Sauce: Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the chicken. If a thicker sauce is desired, whisk 1/2 tsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and stir into the simmering sauce. Cook for another minute.
- 6. Garnish & Serve: Remove from heat. Garnish generously with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
