Homemade Tru Fru

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 24-30 pieces (depends on fruit size)

Description

Indulge in these delightful homemade Tru Fru, featuring perfectly frozen berries encased in a crisp, luscious chocolate shell. This easy recipe allows you to customize your favorite frozen treats right in your own kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries work best), thoroughly dried
  • 1012 oz high-quality chocolate (semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips work well)
  • 1 tsp refined coconut oil (optional, for shine and smoother dipping)
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt flakes (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare and Freeze Fruit. Wash and thoroughly dry your chosen berries. Arrange them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for 1-2 hours until completely solid.
  • Step 2: Melt Chocolate. While fruit freezes, gently melt chocolate in a double boiler or microwave (30-second intervals, stirring). Stir in coconut oil, if using, until smooth.
  • Step 3: Dip Berries. Remove frozen fruit. Working quickly, dip each piece into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off. Place back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with sea salt immediately if desired.
  • Step 4: Final Freeze. Return dipped fruit to the freezer for 15-30 minutes, or until chocolate is completely set and firm.
  • Step 5: Store. Transfer the set Tru Fru to an airtight, freezer-safe container. Enjoy directly from the freezer!
