Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (680g) ground turkey (93% lean recommended)
- 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup (dark, robust preferred)
- 1.5 tsp rubbed sage
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (or more, to taste)
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp olive oil or coconut oil (for cooking, optional)
Instructions
- 1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, maple syrup, rubbed sage, smoked paprika, dried thyme, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix just until everything is incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
- 2. Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 12-14 equal portions (about 2 tablespoons each). Gently flatten each portion into 1/2-inch thick patties.
- 3. Pan-Fry: Heat a large non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium heat. Add olive oil or coconut oil if not using a non-stick pan. Place the patties in the hot pan, ensuring not to overcrowd. Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F/74°C).
- 4. Alternative Cooking (Bake/Air Fry): To bake, preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), arrange patties on a parchment-lined sheet, and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping once. To air fry, preheat to 375°F (190°C), arrange in a single layer, and air fry for 8-12 minutes, flipping once.
- 5. Serve: Serve warm and enjoy your homemade maple turkey sausage!
