Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked pot roast, shredded
- 2 sturdy rolls or slices of bread (ciabatta, sourdough)
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup caramelized onions or thinly sliced red onion (optional)
- 2 tbsp beef broth or au jus
- 1 tbsp butter or olive oil (for bread)
- Horseradish sauce or other desired condiments (optional)
Instructions
- 1. Prepare the Beef: Gently warm shredded pot roast in a saucepan with beef broth or au jus over medium-low heat until heated through and juicy.
- 2. Prepare the Bread: Brush cut sides of bread with butter/oil. Toast in a skillet or under a broiler until golden brown and crispy.
- 3. Assemble Layers: Place cheese on one half of the toasted bread. Pile warm shredded beef and onions (if using) on top. Spread condiments on the other bread half.
- 4. Finish: Close the sandwich. For melty cheese, press in a skillet for 1-2 minutes or broil briefly until cheese is gooey and bubbly. Serve immediately, with extra au jus for dipping if desired.
