Ingredients
- 1 cup (240g) canned pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk or cream (whole milk, half-and-half, heavy cream, or dairy-free alternative)
- 1/4 cup (50g) packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine pumpkin puree, milk, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Whisk until smooth.
- Stir in pumpkin pie spice and vanilla extract.
- Heat over medium-low heat, bringing to a gentle simmer. Stir frequently.
- Continue to simmer for 5-8 minutes, or until the sauce thickens to coat the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 7-10 days, or freeze for longer storage.
