Ingredients
- 3–4 medium apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, Gala, Granny Smith)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or ghee, coconut oil)
- 2–3 tablespoons brown sugar (or maple syrup, honey)
- 1–2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 cup water (or apple cider, orange juice)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Wash, peel (optional), core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch wedges or 1/2-inch dice.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Add apples and sauté for 3-5 minutes until slightly softened.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice over apples. Stir to coat.
- Pour in water and reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer for 5-8 minutes, or until apples are fork-tender.
- Uncover, increase heat slightly if needed to thicken sauce. Stir in vanilla extract and lemon juice (if using). Serve warm.
